About Us

History

The Pilot Mountain Baptist Association was organized on October 17, 1885 at Red Bank Baptist Church. Twenty congregations made up the Association in its beginning. Today 90 congregations make up the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association.

In October 2008 at the 123th Annual Meeting the PMBA chartered a new course – emphasizing that we are a family of churches serving together in meaningful Christian fellowship through shared mission endeavors.

Mission and Purpose

I. Who We Are:

“The PMBA is a seamless network of partnering churches who work cooperatively to reach the local area for Christ.”

II. What We Believe:

As a family of local congregations, we are brought together by the ties that bind us in the faith given by the grace of God. We proclaim that we have…

“…one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over  all and through all and in all…” (Ephesians 4: 5-6)

  • We confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of scripture in the lives of our churches and in the ministry of the association.
  • We seek to encourage the growth of the missionary spirit and development of an evangelistic climate in the Kingdom work of our congregations to fulfill the commands of the Great Commission. (Matthew 28: 19-20)

  • We are committed to investing in the lives of others so that the Kingdom might be advanced and our Lord and Savior might be glorified.

  • We affirm the historic Baptist principles of autonomy of the local church and the freedom of affiliation.

While not an exhaustive listing of our faith foundations, these statements represent the theological foundation that unite and undergird our work together.

The mission of the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association is to advance the Kingdom of God together.
